Premiere Pro 24.3

Tryingto create captions.

Voice audio recorded as a narrator - wild audio recording; not part of a video file.

Transcription of dialogue in a timeline is greyed out.

The text panel simply says "no dialogue found".

Tried transcribing the source clips - which it does do, but no affect on the timeline.

Tried exporting the audio s a flat file and dropping that in the timeline and choosing transcribe. Nope.

Tried exporting teh audio as a quicktime movie and reimporting. Nope.

I used to be able to do this all the time. But nothing now.

I'm just trying to get a method to replicate the problem. I tried an audio-only file (.mov format), and no problem. It is working in your install of the Beta. But the problem might involve an interaction of a type of file and a software issue - or hardware or whatever.

So a "regular" video/audio file in a different project also shows "no dialogue," even though it was previously transcribed. And I assume still is (open the file in the Source monitor and switch to Text panel - is the transcript there?

So not just an audio-only issue?

If you are in show source monitor transcript" view, you will see "No Dialog Found" if a) there is no source open in that monitor or b) the source that is active doesn't have dialogue.

Thx. But it's definitely not the audio file as I tried multiple projects and the Beta fixes the issue.

 Very strange.

What format is the audio file? I'll try to test. If you can share it, that would be great.

All dialogue is on track 1. The original source uadio was not transcribed. But, as I said in my notes,  I did try and transcribe the source. It made no affect on the sequence - "No dialogue found". In the Beta - no issues.

Thanks. Where is the audio-only file in the timeline? You only see "No dialogue" in the text panel? Is the audio file transcribed? (Confirm by opening in the Source monitor and switching to the Text panel.)

Screenshots might help.

@FPS_Fish,

If the audio-only file is added to a track that is under another audio track that has audio, it is not "seen." To test this, mute the audio track that is above it.

If that is the issue and you are ultimately looking to make captions, you can do that and then unmute the track. Or you can move the audio-only to the top track.

Thanks for the quick reply.

This is not the case.
I tried opening the project in the Beta version and it worked right away.
No issues at all.
