Premiere Pro 24.5 - playback stutters, scrubbing is delayed, timeline is slow, Alt+Scroll issue

Hello. I'm not sure if this comment belongs here or in the "bugs" forum, as the scope of the problem is general and likely a flaw more than a bug.

I'm an editor in longform documentary, so I work with dense and lengthy timelines, and I'm finding that the timeline navigation and playback is almost unusable in 24.4.1 & 24.5.

- playback stutters

- scrubbing is delayed

- moving around the timeline is very clunky and delayed (zooming in and out /  moving forwards and backwards)

- *and most annoyingly, Alt+Scroll no longer accurately zooms into your cursor; particularly at the end of the timeline. It will only zoom into the center of the visible timeline.

24.3 (and earlier) didn't have any of these issues, and worked as I’ve long come to expect of Premiere Pro.

Myself and a community of editors working on docuseries in central Canada are all experiencing this, and have tried 24.5 on multiple suites with consistent results.

We hope that an effort is being made to improve timeline functionality? And are there any options or functions that we can change within the software to help improve smoothness and accuracy while navigating the timeline?

The new features are appreciated, but not if they hinder the core functionality of video editing.

I had the same problem. I solved it by downgrading the project to version 23.6.7 and 2 previous NVIDIA driver versions. Since I finished the project, I tried again with version 24.5 of Premire, updating the Windows, Nvidia and Asus drivers to the latest version and the problem seems to have been resolved.

Some times my stuttering problem on second monitor seems to be caused by the positioning / sizing of the program tile. If it was too close to the edge of secreen it wouldn't work. Shrink it down and it works.  Also clear the preferences.

I have this problem solved having the essential graphics panel in edit mode instead ofthe default browser mode.

I've had the same problem. This new update is a complete dumpster fire. I have been using Adobe for 12 years and the last two have been detrimental to my workflow. I have now switched most of my production over to Davinci Resolve. Adobe is not interested in fixing the issues and when we get promises with fixes in an update, the update breaks even more functions. The program is so slow now and I have a 20K HP workstation. I can't believe how they have let the program fail. Windows 11 is also a terrible hindrance. I'm not sure if you've moved to Windows 11 yet, but don't.
