Premiere Pro / Adobe Media Encoder Renders out 1080p to 1088px

Hi there,

I have been rendering out videos for IGTV which use 9:16 format of 1080 x 1920.

This is how it is set in Premiere Pro sequence settings and double-checked during the export media window. The pixels are 1.0 square and encoded with h265.

All videos rendered this way end up as 1920x1088. Based on VLC's media information it says:

- Video resolution 1080x1920

- Buffer dimensions 1088x1920

I believe this is preventing me from uploading it onto the Facebook Creator Studio's IGTV scheduling function, which is quite a significant inconvenience for me.

I have looked for an answer to this but have found no conclusion - only a few threads here and there mentioning the issue, but never with a resolution. I have seen that an issue exists/existed in Vegas Pro with some Intel 10-bit CPU's and the encoder handling HEVC, but there was no conclusion to this.

I am using the 2020 Premiere Pro CC and the media encoder engine bundled in with it.

I have the following hardware:

- Intel i7-9700F

- Nvidia 1660 GTX Super

- Aorus Z390 i Pro Wifi

I would appreciate your assistance 🙂

Odd. Have you tried outputting to a master file codec like ProRes or DNxHD and then re-encoded your h264/h264 from that? Not exactly an answer, but an attempt at a workaround.

I had the same problem, and this video worked for me! I think the timebase has to be 30 fps for IGTV, which isn't mentioned in this video...

Just wondering if anyone has any insight into this - I feel like the answer does not exist on the internet at all....
