Question

Premiere Pro and Premiere Rush when I speed up over 200%, my clip is replaced

Hello everyone,

I'm faily new to this video editing thing but I am having trouble speeding my clips up passed 199%.

Whenever I put 200% in speed duration, my clip is replaced by another clip in the sequence... I've seen videos of people boosting it up to 600%.

Am I doing something wrong?  Everything is pretty much default settings.. I upgraded my iMAC with a. SSD and 32GB of RAM so i dont think it's hardware related..

I have this issue in Premiere Pro AND Premiere Rush

Thank you for your support!

tell us your clip properties.  If the source is from a smartphone, the problem could be caused by a variable frame rate.
use mediainfo to determine whether your source is variable or constant frame rate
https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download
if it's variable use handbrake to convert to constant frame rate setting the quality slider in the video panel to maximum or use shutter encoder https://www.shutterencoder.com/en/ which allows you to transcode directly to prores or other mezzanine formats, "First choose a video codec.
Then in the "Advanced features" section check the box "Conform by:" and set your frame rate in images/seconds." from ShutterEncoders FAQ. You want to figure out what the original target frame rate of the smartphone or screen recording was and set to that in the conform dialog.

I'm going to try and answer this as best I can...

Source: 1920 x 1080, 60i shot on a DSLR

Sequence settings: it says Editing mode: custom / Timebase 29.97 frames/second

Display format fps non-drop-frae timecode

Hope it helps you to help me lol - my noobness level is strong

We all had to learn at some point...  so no shame in admitting your lack of experience.  if you select a clip in the project/bin and right click on it and choose "properties" you should see the info we're looking for.   DSLRs usually shoot an mpeg format like h264, which is heavily compressed and every frame does not have all the information, but relies on the playback device to create a full frame and although usually you can work with it without issues, it would probably help to transcode to what's called a mezzanine format like prores in which every frame is complete.    Post back and we can walk you thru the process.  If you want to post a link to a short clip with the problem, I can see if I'm seeing any problems with it at my end.
