Premiere Pro causes my PC to freeze, then makes my screen turn black and crash
Hi,
It has been over a year that I have this issue, almost every time I work on premiere pro, my PC always crashes at least once, in a very singular and particular way. When I use premiere pro, there is actually no problem, but the problem occurs when I switch windows/programs. If I just happen to ALT + Tab or click on another program in the task bar, I have like 1 chance out of 15 to crash. When I crash, what happens is that everything except my mouse freezes for 2 seconds approximately, then the mouse freezes too. At that point, It can stay frozen for 15 seconds up to a minute, then my screens both turn to black. Then there are multiple outcomes that can happen after this, it depends on my luck, and those outcomes are:
- My PC entirely crashes, and I lose all my unsaved data,
- My PC unfreezes with one screen inactive that becomes disconnected from the PC, I don't lose my unsaved data, but I can't use Premiere Pro to see the video preview so I am forced to restart the program (It actually also turns my after effect preview black, and other apps with videos, in chrome for example, or Media Encoder which is no longer able to render unless I restart the program).
- My PC unfreezes but Premiere Pro crashes and I lose all my data.
Everytime I see someone encountering this specific problem, they are always told to update the driver, or try a specific older version of their driver, or to empty my cache, or to back-up to Windows 10.
Every single time I have followed these instructions given by Adobe Moderators, none of them have worked, and I also had this specific problem on Windows 10.
Everytime I see someone complain about this problem, no one has had a direct answer to what this could be from, it seems like no one looked into it and with all of my respect it is really annoying to be honest. I have been searching for a solution to correct this problem for over a year, and have never actually seen someone get a real answer. I really hope I get one, because I can't imagine myself working on another program, but this glitch is really making me lose so much time, and effort, and it is hard to explain to my clients why I am late on their product basically every single time because of this problem.
Because of that, I felt obligated to put my Auto-Save to 4 minutes, which is really bothering when it is a big project that takes time to save, and loses a lot of time.
For some last details, here are the important parts of my PC build if it can help:
- NVidia 1060ti
- Intel Core i7 10700k
- 32Gb of RAM
I really hope I get an answer aligned to my problem, because I have already dealt with it for one year, and I don't know if I would be able to deal with it more.
Have a nice day
