Premiere Pro CC 2022 Mac gets stuck in x2 playback

Question

Just upgraded to CC 2022 on MacBook Pro 2018 running Big Sur 11.6.  Every time I go to 2x playback (forwards or backwards) it gets stuck and will not stop audio playback.   The video stops and I can navigate around the timeline, but the audio is still going the entire time.  The only way to break out is to quit Premiere.  It does allow me to save before quitting so I have not lost any work thankfully!  Hoping this gets a patch soon - I am so used to working that way that I keep forgetting even though I know it will happen!

Sorry for your issue. Please the following details so that we can troubleshoot the issue properly:

What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)?
Does it happen in all the projects?
If possible, share a screen recording that shows the problem.
