Premiere Pro Crashing On Import (MPE Software Only selected)

Premiere Pro CC 2018 keeps crashing every 4th or 5th import when I am attempting to import a video file from the media browser.

I have already read from other forums that said I should switch the video rendering playback to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only; so I did. However, my issue still remains.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Any answers?

Hi tevynj24635786,

I am sorry that you are facing trouble importing media into Premiere Pro.

  • What is the source of your media files? Please attach a screenshot of the MediaInfo (tree view).
  • Is this issue specific to a media type or a project?
  • Where exactly are your media files located (internal or external drive)?
  • Have you tried importing media from a different location?
