Premiere Pro CS6

Hi, I have recently bought a new computer, some of the spec include:

Motherboard - 1 x Asus ROG Strix X670E-F Gaming WIFI

Graphics Card - 1 x Nvidia GeForce® RTX 4090 24GB

RAM - 1 x 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 4800MHZ (2 x 32GB)

I have re-installed my Adobe Master Collection CS6 program files. I launched Premiere Pro and tried to open a previously completed sequence/ project file and I got this text appear:

"This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."

The files behave perfectly okay on my previous computer (Windows 7; my new computer is Windows 10), so I don't understand what has gone wrong?

I don't want to upgrade my software because later versions require a subscription fee and because I'm only a hobbyist the ongoing fees will be too expensive for me. So can someone please help with my dilemma?

kind regards

Correct answer Ann Bens

Error message means the program is missing codecs.

On a different note... why Windows 10? Windows 11 is much nicer. You're using AMD so it's not as critical as it would be if using Intel, but still... it's been around for almost 2 years now. I'd go back and re-do the OS, since it sounds like you're starting new here. 🙂

Hi Ann

Thank you very much for replying. I have followed the steps in the link you have provided. I got to:

Deactivate and reactivate Premiere Pro
Stage 3: Deactivate Premiere Pro. Choose Help > Sign Out. Then, in the Creative Cloud dialog box, click the Sign Out button.

I click on the Help button and within the drop-down menu I can't see any where to sign out? Therefore I can't proceed any further?

Also where can I find the Creative Cloud dialogue box?

Can you help me please.

You do not use Creative Cloud as its no longer part of CC.

You need to deactivate and activate Premiere CS6 itself.

Did you deactivate CS6 from your old computer first?

Hi Ann, please forgive my naivety. I didn't deactivate CS6 from my old computer because I didn't know I had to? Also I'm afraid I don't know how to deactivate CS6 and I also don't know what the procedure is required for? Could you enlighten me please.

kind regards

I think there were some codecs that Win10 does not install by default. If all the file in your project are the same type, just look at one of them to see what codec it uses. If you're using Windows media player, will it play there?

If you have many file types, create a new project and import the old project, but only one of the sequences.

The codec are on the system CS6 needs to activate them. OP needs to do what the doc says.
