I worked on a project for several weeks then all of a sudden i couldnt find it anymore - not in recent projects - not in explorer - not in the original location i saved it to - it just vanished like it never existed even the Autosave File is gone. PP crashed the day before and i didnt re-open it on that day. Does anyone know any fixes for this?

Premiere does not delete project or auto saves on its own.
Using an external drive?

Have you tried to search for *.prproj to find it? Open Explorer and select This PC to the left and the type in *.prproj in the search box. This will search for all .prproj files on all hard disks in one go.

Experiencing the same thing. I don't understand how this is possible. When I open up Premier, it's as if I've never used the program. It deleted all of my project files and all of my auto saves but only from version 24. I still have everything from V23. This seems like a pretty major glitch. It would be really cool if Adobe could explain this!?
I set my computer to sleep 2 nights ago and when I woke up it was all gone.
I was alone in the house and the computer was closed.

Sorry about that. Premiere Pro cannot delete files on its own. There is no such option. Can you check this location and see if 24.0 folder is there? Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/
Let us know.
Thanks,
KR

Deleted as in "The projects are gone from the Recent list when i open Premiere Pro, that list is blank now." or as in "I have searched all my disks, internal and external for *.prproj in my file browser and nothing was found on my disks."
It would be great to have an answer on that since they are two different things. 🙂
It deleted all of my project files and all of my auto saves but only from version 24.

@Averdahl has asked the question I'm thinking about? Is it from the startup / home screen that users are saying all my projects are gone? That's a preference/convenience issue, not a bunch of missing files.
PC users can use Everything , the best Windows search tool of all time! 🙂 (I have no interest in it other than it is great software), just put in '.prproj' into the search and it will super quickly show you every Premiere Project on any of your drives.

I have tried this. Nothing is there. I checked my internal hard drive, and all three hard drives that I'm currently using in rotation for different projects. Nothing anywhere.
I understand that what I'm saying sounds insane and trust me. It feels that way to me too.

Both. As I mentioned in my original post, opening up premier version 24 now is as if I've never used it. Which is certainly not the case. I've made many videos with it over the past few months. I went into my internal hard drive and checked the project files folder.
Empty.
Auto save folder, empty,
In the program, Open recent > grayed out.
It's as if the program was uninstalled and reinstalled overnight while I was sleeping.
I'm on a 2022 MacBook Pro.
I didn't have a cloud service and I didn't have these project files on an external.
Lesson learned, but I'm just curious how this could even happen?

How did you check it, by browsing known folders or by doing a search using a file browser such as Finder?
Doing a search is the only way to go. I am on Windows and when i open Explorer i make sure to first select This PC to make sure that the search will be done on all disks, internal and external. If i just select let´s say the Windows drive the search will be done only on that drive. So that step is critical.
My recommendation all years have been to never ever save project files in the folder that Adobe by default suggest, iow the Documents folders. All it takes is a minor issue in the OS to wipe those folders and all it´s content. Maybe too late now, i am aware of that. Making daily backups and/or using the Save a Copy is another good method to avoid losing project files. And, avoid to save all files in one (1) folder.
I went into my internal hard drive and checked the project files folder.

Per @Averdahl <<And, avoid to save all files in one (1) folder.>>
And on only one drive. Copy your project to a different drive, and even your autosave folder on a different drive.

Kostas, sorry to hear it. How are you determining the projects are all 'vanished'? Is it from the Home screen, no entries, or have you searched you hard drives for *.prproj files? Win or Mac?
