Premiere Pro Disables System Audio on Mac

Hi everyone!
When I use Premiere, it disables the audio on my system. That means I can’t play anything on YouTube with sound, and other applications won’t play audio as long as Premiere is open. Does anyone know how to fix this? I’m on a Mac.

Here's some data from my computer:

Premiere 25.3.0 (build 84)

MacOS Sequoia 15.5 (24F74)
Chipset Apple M1 Pro

16 GB

Hi!

Sorry about the issue. Could you share a screenshot of your Audio Hardware settings (Premiere Pro > Settings > Audio Hardware)?

Also, let me know if you're using Bluetooth headphones to preview audio. Some Bluetooth headsets don't support audio output from multiple sources.

Thanks,

Ishan

Hi Ishan,

Thank you for your quick response. My headphones are Bose AE2 SoundLink, and I do use them in Bluetooth mode. However, I don’t think the issue is with the headphones themselves. I should have mentioned that sometimes Premiere does let me listen to YouTube while I’m working — it’s just hit or miss. When it does work, the audio from other apps can also sound a bit muffled.

The fact that it works occasionally makes me think it’s not a limitation of the headset.

Here are my settings:

Thanks!

Please change the audio input to none or select another device. If you still see the issue, please try wired headphones or speakers and let me know if that helps.
