Premiere Pro File Import Error-The requested file could not be imported.

Community Beginner ,
May 04, 2025 May 04, 2025

Have purchased new desktop.

Premiere will not import any video files. Photo files or audio files are ok.

Have cleared and moved cache files. Removed all plugins. Other video editing programs are ok. Not working on either 2023 or 2025 version. Everything worked ok on previous desktop.

Any suggestions please? Many thanks.

Many thanks for your reply.

Have tried the Handbrake option but no joy..

I edit Mp4 and MTS footage but this issue has stumped me. As I say-video
imports to every other video player/converter/editor software bar Adobe.

*Update*

Just tried to install AE and see if video imported ok as well. It
highlighted one of the MediaCore 7.0 plugin files as causing a problem.
Have deleted the offending plugin file and files are now importing video
and audio ok.

Have just spent the equivalent of US $3000 on a new desk...

I have included a screenshot image of the message in AE.

I then did a search of the wording and was pointed to the
Adobe-Common-7.0-MediaCore and deleting the plugin files.

I had only 2 files there and 1 file was installed (BorisFX plugins) after
the issue had already arisen so I knew it wasn't that file.

Regards.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Please use the free MediaInfo and post a screenshot of the properties of your media in tree view:
https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate, use Handbrake to convert to constant frame rate before importing into Premiere Pro:
https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php
Here is a tutorial:

Shutter Encoder may also be used to convert to Constant Frame Rate:

terribly frustrated with lack of productivity.

In any case many thanks for taking the time to help with my issue.

Kind regards,
