Hello, I just got a new XPS 17 9730. 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900H 2.60 GHz, 64GB Ram, Windows 11. 64 bit Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 version 536.23.
when working 4k footage, my timeline starts going fast when playing, the music speeds up, then eventually freezes. I have to restart my PC because premiere pro will not boot up after the issue occurs. After doing that, I can work for a while then it happens again. I render footage and it doesn't really help. It tends to freeze after I render my timeline. My xps 15 with 32 ram etc ran smoothly. Proxies won't even work when I toggle them on, it starts and then stops. I have to toggle off proxies to work the footage. any ideas what my issue is?

Hi @ryanm66034228,
I saw your message. You said you're having trouble with your 4K footage. Which GPU was in your previous system. Have you tried any other drivers? That could be the issue. Let us know.
Thanks,
Kevin

It's possible that your new GPU doesn't have the right drivers. Can you try a clean reinstall of the current studio drivers for the GPU?
Thanks,
Kevin

Adobe posted an issue that was possible if I did not update to the most recent driver. I did and it did not work.

Try an older Studio Driver, like 517.xx. Does that work?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi,
If you choose Software Only as the renderer in Project Settings, does the situation get any better? Another thing to try is to check Audio Hardware settings and set the Default Input to "No Input." Try those steps.
Thanks,
Kevin

That is making it buttery smooth so far! It may be the "No Input" default is all I need. Does that make sense? Does Rendering with software only mean that I am not using my computers' more powerful specs I paid so much money for? 64 gb ram and my GPU and 4TB SSD etc?
