Premiere keeps freezing whilst I'm trying to edit captions. I've disabled fx, high resolution playback, ligatures (and I'm using a basic font), I'm using proxies, playback resolution at the lowest it allows me, text panel closed, zoomed in timeline... I don't know what else to do to keep it from spining that freezing rainbow wheel. I have an M1 from 2021 with 13GB RAM allocated to adobe only, almost 700GB free memory space and no other programs running other than premiere and one google chrome window, which I need in order to translate some captions. My computer isn't freezing outside of Premiere. This has been happening for three days now and I'm on a deadline. Please help.
Thanks for the detail. The only method you did not list is turning OFF "Show duplicate frame markers" in the wrench icon of the timeline.
I don't recall freezing as a proxy issue, but there have been reports of oddities with caption workflow with proxies. This won't help you deadline issue, but afterward, I'd create a copy of the project and try this without proxies.
"Show duplicate frame markers" is off and nothing changed. I exported all my work thus far, created a new project, imported everything into the new project and managed to work without a glitch last night.
However, this morning, I open the new project and it's back to freezing for no apparent reason. I'm going to duplicate the same process (create a new project and import everything back in again) but this is definitely a problem that has nothing to do with my settings.
Yes. Unfortunately, I re-opened the (second) project today and the same problem persists. I have no problem adding and editing effects, fx, etc., but every time I click on a caption it freezes, even before I type anything, It then takes around 15-30 seconds to unfreeze.
When I create a new project and import everything the problem goes away. That is, until I close premiere. Once I open it back up it freezes again.
