Question

Premiere Pro lagging and slow to export

I have 40 second video with graphics (jpegs) from Illustrator and the current effects are motion (position change) and opacity level changes. The programme is so slow and laggy, small changes take 2 minutes each and it is really slowing down my work flow (The mouse will stay in one place and not move). Then when it's time to export, it says 7 mins. When I did this initially it actually ended up taking longer to 30 mins but today it was in fact 7, but this is still a lot more than I am used to...

Device details:

iMac 2021

Memory: 8GB

macOS: Sonoma 14.2.1
Premiere Pro: Version 24.1
If there is any additional information I can provide, please let me know.

First, having only 8GBs of RAM ... well, Premiere can function with that tiny amount of RAM, but not well. Anything above 1280x720 SDR/Rec.709 is probably gonna be painful.

Next, what pixel size are those image/graphic files? Premiere struggles with larger jpegs especially. It tends to handle png files better.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

Hi R Neil,

Thank you for responding to me!

I'm not sure if 1280x720 SDR/Rec.709 is part of my export options.

I have attached the details of my png in this response. So far nothing is has aided this issue

Premiere has to encode multiple (7) layers also put your assets on a local drive.

Using ICloud is not contributing to fast encoding.

Hi Samantha346569307obg!

Sorry about the trouble. Have you already tried resetting preferences and deleting cache files? Could you share the screenshot of the export settings?

Let us know. Thanks

KR
