Add black video above the title and apply the Grid Effect to it.

Delete it before exporting.

    You cannot use the guides or rulers in the Legacy titler as they are designed for the Ess Graphics.

    Might want to get used to EGP as the Legacy titler is going to be dropped in the near future.

    Ok thanks.. But is this not a serious design oversight by the Adobe
    programmers rendering the Legacy title unusable for accurate layout of
    text. Guides are such a basic element in all other text related adobe
    softwares. Seems like I'll have to export the video clip I need to lay text
    over into After Effects and do the job there. Kind of in disbelief to be
    honest.

    It is called legacy for a reason. On a side note, it never had guides or rulers.

    You dont need Ae just use the new Ess Graphics Panel there you can use the guides and rulers.
