I have a Acer Aspire 5 (A517-52G) 16GB. Its brand new. I downloded premire pro and noticed the sound wont playback. The audio meteres show that sound is playing but i cant hear anything. It picks it up for a milisecond then cuts off to silence.

I checked the input and ouput and they are correct.

I have cleared media cache.

the audio files themselves are fine and compatible.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled.

I need this for university! what can i do to fix this?

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. I found the problem.

My input was set to the laptop mic and i had headphones on so thats why it was picking up a tiny bit of noise in the output. My bad! I was used to my old settings being no input on my old laptop. Thanks for your help.

The fact that you hear a little bit of sound when you start playing is puzzling.  Do other apps play audio correctly?  Does the computer have a headphone jack and can you test this behavior monitoring with headphones?  or does connecting a headset via usb work?

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-clear-your-media-cache-in-30-seconds-in-premiere-pro-2020/m-p/11017257/thread-id/260446?page=1

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/8236158?page=1

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.
