Premiere Pro Project Lag

Sometimes during editing, this happens with my project.

It does not crash, but its kind of a lag and its really annoying. Once it happened while ripple deleting, while other times during importing a file.

I found the solution by copying the whole timeline sequence and pasting it into a new project. But then another problem arose. When I pasted the clips my linked clips were automatically unlinked, all of them. Please help!

The red sections are pictures (Frame Hold Segments) with the blurred effect. But I tried and rendered and replaced one clip (There are 10 of them). And suddenly the project became normal. Thank you so much for saving my life. But can you you tell me what is the reason behind that?
