Premiere Pro requires access to the following folders: Public

When I open PPro I get this message followed by the note:

"Grant access to this application in security & privacy preferences, located in system Preferences".

The problem is when I go to privacy settings I don't even see PPro, I only see Media Encoder. So I cannot allow access.

I am working on MacOS Sonoma 14.0

Premiere Pro V25.0

I did see another post with the same question, but no valid answer.

I have already tried to uninstall PPro, and restart computer, with no luck.

Thanks

Hi @Ivo Cimmino - That is a different issue.  Are there files you are trying to access in the public folder?  Can you try navigating to your Username > Public and then right click on "Public" then select get info. at the bottom there is a sharing and permission section make sure that you have read/write access with your username for that folder.

Also, here is an article to help you as well Control access to your Public folder on Mac

Let us know if that helps

@jamieclarkeThat worked !

For some reason I only had read access to that folder, I have changed it to Read/Write, and that did the trick.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi I am having a similar issue.

I turned on the permissions through settings, and allowed it to read and write and somehow i still get the same popup everytime i try and open the app. It is asking me to allow access to "Downloads" and 'movies' even though i selected those in the settings using the control access to your public folders link you provided above. I still dont see any option to toggle downloads in the files and folders though. i have given premiere full disk access as well. Please help.

My mac is up to date

! i figured it out! i found a post from somebody else basically saying :

You can use this terminal command to reset the default folder permissions:

diskutil resetUserPermissions / `id -u`

in case anybody else is having the same issue, this instantly resolved it for me

Thank you aimal! Your solution works! I have tried everything that jamieclarke said and it did NOT work!

I realized this issue happened when I created another User account and they were also using Premiere Pro. Thank you once again!!!

Hi Jamieclarke. No PPro was not in the full disk access. I have added it. Now it shows as in the attached image, but still causes the same message when I open premiere.

Hi @Ivo Cimmino - That is a weird one.  Does Premiere Pro show up in the Full Disk Access section?  Can you try adding it if it is not there.  Let us know if that helps your issue.

Thanks @jamieclarke , but as I have explained in my post, the problem is that when I go to Privacy & Security > Files and Folders, PPro is not there for me to grant access. All I see is "Adobe ME". See attached image.

Hi @Ivo Cimmino -  Mac computers have strict controls over application access to folders. To import media from those folders, you need to grant permission or click ‘Allow.’ The screenshot below likely shows what you encountered.

To resolve this, click the Apple icon in the menu bar, select System Settings, then navigate to Privacy & Security > Files and Folders. Here, you can enable access for Premiere Pro to access your folders.
