Premiere pro turning captions into a downloadable transcript

Hi, I can't work this out and hoping someone can assist 🙂

Although I try to edit the transcript before generating the captions there are inevitably edits that get missed. However, when I make changes to the captions those changes don't seem to get pulled across to the transcript also. So then when I need to download the transcript I either have to download it with errors (or manually go through copying the edits to the transcript as well as the captions) ... or ... download the captions as a .txt file (which has all the timecodes on it and is split into a million sentences) and then put it into chatGPT to turn it into a transcript.

Surely there must be an easier way? Am I missing something?

Hi Sandra,

Transcripts and Captions in Premiere Pro work independently and do not update each other.

However, you might find this workflow helpful for exporting a transcript to a text file for correction and then re-importing it into Premiere Pro: Export Transcript Workflow.

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks Paul. It's a shame there isn't an easier way to get from corrected captions to a text file without timecodes however I'll suggest it as a feature request and work around it for now.
