Question

Premiere very slow with Sequoia 15.1 (Macbook Pro 2019)

Recently, with the Sequoia 15.1 update, editing videos with Premiere Pro 2025 became unfeasible, even in small projects with iPhone videos at 1080px. It's simply unfeasible, it's slow even to edit audio and make small adjustments. Not to mention the preview that doesn't play the video smoothly when it's a slightly longer video in 4k, even with a proxy.

I have carried out all possible optimization recommendations for both Mac and Premiere and I see no results, even after clearing caches, optimizing the system with CleanMyMac X, among other parameters.

Any suggestions?

Model: Macbook Pro 16-inch, 2019

Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 6-Core

Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4GB | Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536MB

Memory: 16GB 2667MHz DDR4|

Thanks!

Hey gabrielborghi,

Sorry for the poor experience. Are you seeing this issue with a specific project? I recommend creating a new project to test if there's a difference in performance. Please also check if launching Premiere Pro with plugins disabled has any effect (https://adobe.ly/4g9Npow). You can also try adding a Bars and Tone clip to the timeline and check if it previews as expected. This will help us isolate if this is a media-specific problem.

Thanks,

Ishan

Hello, thanks for responding!

It's not a problem with a specific project, it's a general problem with any project, and even after closing the program, the Mac remains slow. I noticed that other people here in the community have reported similar issues with this current version of Premiere and Sequoia.

I solved this problem by downgrading Premiere, I'm only editing with version 2024 and it's been ok until then.

I see. Could you try the latest Beta and let us know if the performance improves? Here's how: https://adobe.ly/419N94q;
