Premiere Will Not Import .xml file

Community Beginner ,
May 29, 2025 May 29, 2025

Hello, I've had some issues trying to import any .xml files into premiere pro. When I attempt to either drag in/directly import an .xml file, I get an error stating "The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened."

Additionally, the file import failure message claims the file is located in my temporary local app data as a .prpoj file, but it's in my downloads as a .xml.

I've tried downgrading Premiere to 25.2, scanning the .xml file for corruption with XML Wrench, and importing to different projects from various locations (downloads, documents, etc.)

I've attached the .xml in case it provides any information, but considering this error occurs with all .xml files I've tried, I don't believe it's the issue.

(On Windows 10, Premiere Pro 25.2.3 and 25.2)

Hello Sumeet,

I believe I was somehow unzipping the folder that contained the .xml file improperly. After trying a new unzipper application, I was able to properly import the .xml. Thank you for your help.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hi Dorn27805949mf0a,

Sorry about the poor experience. The xml file you shared is importing properly at our end. Have you tried resetting app preferences to check if it's helping?

Thanks,

Sumeet
