Premiere Won't Play Snagit Video - Audio Only

I have a video to which I would like to add a Snagit screencast.

My guess is I'm embarassing myself here a little and that the issue is super simple, but here goes.

My understanding has been that if you import a movie and use it to start a brand new Sequence, that would establish the basic settings of the Sequence? Please correct me if I am wrong.

The original footage was created using Microsoft Teams (.mpg4) and was what would have set the parameters for the Sequence, yes?

When I import and try to insert a Snagit video it will only insert the audio, no video. Now, if I start a brand new project with a brand new sequence and import and insert a Snagit video first it works, but only once! By which I mean, after that no other clips can be added, including the one that just worked!

I'm including screens here of the:

  • Sequence settings for the Original Project before Snagit
  • Sequence settings created by importing Snagit vide into brand new project/sequence
  • Properties of the Snagit video I'm trying to import

I'm comfortable there must an issue with the settings but that raise a couple of questions:
Where are the mistmatches?

  • What is the best way to correct?
  • If there are mistmatches, should they have been auto adjusted to the sequence when inserted?

Gratitude in advance for anybody who might be able to assist.

This is a very maddening issue when starting out ... it's about track targeting. Telling Premiere where you want work added or done.

Notice on the far left of your sequence, there are blue blocks? The very far left is the "Source" target blocks, the ones to their right are the Track target blocks.

Source targets tell PrPro where to put incoming stuff. Track targets tell it where to put work within the sequence.

You have currently an audio Source target set, but no Video Source target ... so click on probably the far left block of V1, above the blue block of whichever audio track has a blue block.

And now, with a blue block for the far left Source target block for V1, video will 'land' there.

Thank you. I had a feeling something might be off in that area. All is good now!
