Question

Premiere worked great yesterday, today it's crashing like crazy.

I had a couple more exports to do this morning, left over from a full day's work yesterday. I can't get Premiere to work well at all, especially exporting as h264. Exporting in ProRes seems to work pretty well. but of course I need to deliver in the smaller .mp4 formats. I need premiere to be more consistent.

I've had this issue for about a week now. One day, working perfectly. Next day, crashes anytime I try to do an H264 export. Nothing was changed.

Yep, sounds familiar. I really needed to get 7 hours of billable work done today as I'm going on vacation next week. Instead, I got 1 or 2 max. Thanks Adobe. You made me look like a fool.

My Windows computer did a restart yesterday due to a Microsoft update... has your computer updated?

If yes... read below

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers
Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter

nVidia Driver Downloads https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
-for all Adobe programs use the STUDIO driver, not the GAMING driver
-To achieve the highest level of reliability, Studio Drivers undergo extensive
-testing against multi-app creator workflows and multiple revisions of the top
-creative applications from Adobe to Autodesk and beyond
.
If you have a laptop you MAY also need to check for a laptop specific nVidia driver
-SOME laptops require an approved driver from the laptop company, not nVidia
