Problem with AVI import from Garmin Dashcam 20

When I try to import an AVI movie made by the Garmin Dashcam 20 I receive the following error message, 'This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed" Help.

    You will probably have to use consumer level software to work with this type of consumer level media.

    Windows 10 64bit.

    Movie Maker will open them.

    A search suggest that the only Cashcam 20 format is H.264 in an AVI file. A few years ago, PR did not support this and conversion was required to use the file. Is that still true?

    Check out your documentation for your device. It sounds like you need to either install their codec (either from media that came with your device or their website), or you might be restricted to the video management software that came with your device.
