Problems with capturing from HDV-tapes

I have big and serious problems with capuring from tape (HDV) into Premiere Pro CS6:

- There seems to be no differenec at all between the two buttons "Cancel" an "OK", that appears in the dialouge-window, when I press "stop" to end the capture. Even if I now press "Cancel", the clip is saved as a file on my hard-disc (!). Totally unbelievable. And useless. Just takes up a lot of valubable data-space, for no reason at all. Especially problematic in HD-mode! It should only be in the "OK"-mode that the clip is saved. And when I try to capture again, it says that I can´t change name of the clip!! Idiotic! I can´t even overwrite, but have to start all over again! Even when I start capturing a new project, and give the (first) clip a name in the capture box, sometimes the programme alters (cuts down) the name by itself, in the dialouge box, without any reason or explanation. And the name is not used already on the disc. Seems not to accept my names! Why?

- Why can´t I choose to capture only video or only audio? There is a box for this in the capture window, but it is not working in HDV-mode (its just grey). Why?
Somewhat idiotic. If you, for instance, record a speaker (narration) on to your camera in HD, you also get a video recording that is pretty useless. You don´t want this useless scrap-video to take up unnecessary space on the hard-drive  and espesiallyl not in HD-format. But now your are stuck with this inconvinience. Why? Any solution to the problem?

- And why does Premiere Pro CS6 also make a separate so called .xmp-file for every clip that I log in? I do not want that. Can I find a setting somewhere that lets meta-data being embedded in just one file (the captured video and audio file)? Double files for each clip is very irritating, and takes up a lot of unnecessary space on the computer screen, for one thing. Confusing!

- And, finally, why does Premiere CS6 save the HDV-files as .mpeg-files. Why can´t I choose .avi instead, which is much better?

I am really dissapointed with CS6 in this respect. My old Premiere 6.5 works much better, without any of this problems. And there you could also decide if you just wanted to capture video or just audio!

Thanks!

HDV is mpeg2 and will capture as mpeg2 not avi.

You cannot caputure  video and audio separate with hdv.

    xmp are metadata files.

    Rename afterward.

Why is cs6 disappointing, 6.5 is SD only, cannot capture hdv with that.

If you are on Window use HDVSplit instead.

    Ann Bens!

    Thank you!

But the big problem still remains when capturing. When I hit "Cancel", the clip is still saved on the hard-drive!!
    Totally unbeliveable.

Also idiotic that there is no function to capture audio or video separately. It´s possible with my old Premiere 6.5 system.

How can I embedd the metadata into the clip files instead?

And rename afterwards is not an option. It´s to much work. The program should work in a better way, and accept my names immideately instead (if they not already exists on th harddisc, of course).

It´s possible with my old Premiere 6.5 system.

But that was SD this is HDV.

You will have to except as it is, wont get any better.

Batch renaming is very easy in Explorer or the Bridge.
