in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

We need to know about your hardware and media files. FWIW I'm not having any issues with PP 23.2 on Windows 11.

I have the same problem. Editting is smooth at first, but after a few minutes Premiere starts to react with increasing delay. The timeline plays the material and does not respond to my commands. After restarting the software it's fine but not for long. My computer: i7, nvidia 1080Ti, 32GB RAM, Win10.

Every time there is a camera change in the timeline there is like a 10fr dropout. Its not 100% of the time but its annoying enough that I'm posting here instead of cutting.
I even transcoded to proxies this morning hoping it would help but alas, still getting a lot of 1/2 second dropouts even with 1080p ProRes LT on a directly attached SSD.

Before anyone asks, yes I nuked my media cache and preferences and no improvment.

Hey,
Sorry for the poor experience. A similar issue related to poor playback performance in Multicam was fixed in the most recent Beta. Could you try it and let us know if that fixes the problem? You can find it in the Beta apps category of the Creative Cloud Desktop app. Installing the Beta will not overwrite your current version of Premiere Pro.
Thanks,
Ishan

I would use the Beta, but that has been crashing with an alarming frequency for me. We need a hotfix.

Honestly I'm still geting inexplicable dropped frames whenever the camera cuts, even in Beta build 47.

Every camera switch it drops 10-30 frames.
Render times per frame are sub 1ms but it drops them anyways.

Have you tried installing Premiere Pro 23.0? Let us know if that version works for you.

I guess you can't install 23.0 alongside 23.3? I can't downgrade at the moment I'm in the middle of a new project. This one I limped through by just rendering the timeline constantly to get smooth playback. If I can test at a later date I will let you know.

FWIW: If you use a Smart Rendering codec you can gain a real advantage by rendering as you go. You can have an export in seconds. Check it out:

Here's an excellent explanation and thread about Smart Rendering:

Smart rendering is broken unless you always export like-to-like with codecs. Sometimes it works with media encoder.

It works great actually! 🙂
I saw your post six weeks ago. I didn't want to get involved. You had Neil, Warren and Kevin responding to you. Yes, I understand your point, and it's a good idea, but, it's not how it works currently. Maybe they will add that at some point. However, the way it's outlined to work, it really does work well. Export from PP using Smart Rendering and then create h.264 from Shutter Encoder, and you'll still save a bunch of time.

Anyways off-topic from multi-camera performance which has been pretty spotty as of late.
Use Previews USED to (or should) work that way but that part of it was taken away inexplicably.
