Question

Program monitor and export window color mismatch

Hi there,

I have issues with faithful color preservation when exporting- in fact, when previewing the export even.

The footage I am dealing with here is composed of individual PSD still images.

The images are heavily treated both in Photoshop, and then, additionally, in Premiere.

I am working with Premiere 2017 in Windows 10.

The colors I see in premiere in the PROGRAM monitor are how I want them to be.

The problem isn't just with the export per se.

Even in the SOURCE tab of the EXPORT window - not just in the OUTPUT tab and/or in the actual exported file - the colors look wrong, completely flat and desaturated.

How can this be fixed? I need to be able to maintain color grading both the PSD and Premiere footage to get what I'm after.

Thanks,

T.H.

Hi @travish71944048,

Thank you for the question. It would help to know more about your case. Can you provide more information? https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/faq-what-information-should-i-provide-when-asking-a-question-on-this-forum/td-p/3929027. I appreciate it!

Thanks,

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the reply. Here's a bit more info.

I run PremierePro 2017 (v11.0) on Windows 10 Home 64-bit (19045.4170), with IntelCore i7-7700 @ 3.60GHz, 32.0 GB RAM.

The media drive is a Seagate OneTouch 5 TB HDD, NTFS format.

I do use the Mercury Playback Engine.

As mentioned, the footage in this case are PSD files, color mode = RGB, bit depth = 8, working space = sRGB.

I run Photoshop 2015.5.1.

Do you need any other information?

I suspect the problem has to do with bringing in some PSDs because other parts of the same project - actual video files - don't suffer from the same issue but, then again, their color isn't as radical as the ones for the PSDs.

As you could see in the previosuly attached JPG, I am working with extremely bright, almost neon pink hues.

I've tried applying a gamma compensation LUT when exporting, but that did nothing for me.

Also, the PROGRAM to EXPORT preview mismatch will exist no matter which export setings I choose.

T.H.
