Project folder not writeable

New Here ,
Jul 12, 2022 Jul 12, 2022

I've just bought a new macbook pro and on trying to start a new project in Premiere, it says "This location is write-protected or unavailable." It says this wherever I try to save the project. None of the file locations are locked. Any idea what's going on?

Hey,

Sorry about the issue. Have you tried granting Full Disk Access to Premiere? Here's how: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/quick-tips-learn-how-to-give-full-dis...

Let us know if this helps.

Regards,

Ishan

Find the folder where Premiere is trying to save the project to, right click on the folder and choose "get info"

in the info window, unlock it by clicking on the lock icon at the bottom right.   Make sure you have full read and write permissions and also click on the gear wheel below and enable "apply to enclosed items."  Screen Shot 2022-10-12 at 12.15.30 PM.png

so you're creating a new project in the initial page that comes up when you click "new project" on the opening page...    Have you tried to change the location? Screen Shot 2022-10-12 at 12.28.00 PM.png Screen Shot 2022-10-12 at 12.27.03 PM.png

That worked! It has access to all of the files, it was just trying to overwrite I think.

Thanks so much!

Okay I figure.d it out.

For me, it was special charcters that I was using. Like "///" and "***" so essentially anything that isnt a number or dadada will render it unable to save the project in the location you want. Cheers im a genius🤘🏾🙃🤘🏾 and i mean it8)

@Ishan Y

I'm having this issue when trying to create a new project. It won't let me open the file and it includes the same error message. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I'm guessing that it's an issue with storing your project on "one drive."  Save locally on a hard drive that's directly connected to your computer...  I don't work with "one drive" but have my system set up so I can save locally to a folder that's automatically mirrored on dropbox...   Been working this way for many years without issues.
