I didn't even know that this was even a thing that took up storage. I have a 256gb SSD and my preview files were taking up 50gb of storage. If anyone has not looked. Please delete your preview file. (You can always re render your files again.)

Correct answer Ann Bens

I would say get a bigger drive. 256 gig is rather small for editing.

Soon your drive will fill up again.

I would agree with Ann Bens that you really need a bigger SSD and ideally (at some point) have two drives to minimise load on one disk.

If you went for a 1TB drive as step 1 - if you have another spare NVMe slot for the blank 1TB drive you can clone the 256GB drive using some third party software. There are many about. I used AOEMI Partition assistant.

It allows you to have a bigger drive without re-installing everything.

I think you end up with 256GB shown on your new 1TB drive but you can merge the blank (formatted) area of your 1TB drive to the 256GB area.

This is how I did it on one of my laptops.

Also - Get yourself a fast  external drive and take a System Image back up for future insurance in case of any major issues.

You could then use the spare 256GB original drive as a second drive for Premiere Pro use  if you have that spare slot in your motherboard !.
