"Create captions" not working.

The transcription process works great. As soon as I click the "Create Captions" button, I get the screen below, and it never changes. I can cancel it an go back to the transcription, but can not get any further. I've tried resetting my Premier settings, and resetting the workspace. I've even uninstalled and re-installed. Any assistance would be appreciated.

This is a bug report carried over from UserVoice, started July 26, 2021 (I think version 15.4, PR 2021). When posted here on 1/24/23, it had 36 votes. It was one of various bugs in different versions that shared a symptom of captions not being created from a transcript. From more recent comments in this thread, I am not sure what version users are running and which of the various bugs they are experiencing.

I could not replicate the original bug, but I believe that it was fixed in the PR 2022 version.

If you comment in this thread, would you please indicate the version of PR you are using? And what particular symptom you get?

Screenshots are not carrying over from UserVoice (or at least did not so far). To see any screenshots, here is the link to UserVoice for this bug:

Edit: 5/2/23 The UserVoice posts are no longer available.

I am getting this error currently in version 22. transcribe the sequence, go to create captions and nothing happens, can only manually add it myself.

HI Ben,
which Premiere version are you using, can you please state the exact build number? And what are the specs of your computer?

When you say you can't edit the speaker name, what were your exact steps? Did you click on the "Edit speakers" option in the drop-down that dhows once you click on "Speaker"?

I was having this issue and found that I could transcribe, but not turn the text into captions.
I also could not alter the text in the transcription section, rename the speaker or delete them.
The text also wouldn't follow along with the video (blue box on text).

This was a sequence with C300 mkIII footage and audio from camera.
Workaround was to export audio as WAV file, re-import into blank sequence and transcribe caption there, then paste captions into the troublesome working sequence, which would then follow along.

Hi Brad,

you can export your captions as SRT file (Go to "..." in the Captions tab and select "Export to SRT"). Then you can import the SRT into any other Premiere Pro project (simply add it to the Project panel and the timeline, or use "Import captions from file" button in the Captions tab).

I had the same issue. In Beta it worked, but the beta project after the fix won't open in 15.4.1 How do I get the titles into my project?

Update: I installed a new nvidia driver, but that did not change anything in 15.4.1

That's great to hear! if the fix is working in current Beta versions already, you should also see it in the new 22.0 Release version coming out later this month.

Yes, it's working correctly in the beta version for me, using the same machine and set up as on the unsuccessful 15.4.1 version attempt

Thank you all for your input!

Is anyone else seeing that this is working correctly in a current Beta version (22.x), using the same machine and set up on which caption creation failed in the 15.4.1 Release version?

Just to say - I downloaded and tested the Beta and it worked! I was beginning to think this would never work on my work laptop, but clearly there's some kind of fix in the beta.

@Kerstin Ebert, here you go. It only spit out one file, but I hope it's what you need.

I'm using an NVIDIA GTX 1650, but the driver has changed several time. When I've had issues with other parts of Premiere, I contact Adobe support and they change the driver installed, but it never seems to affected this particular problem.
