Rec. 2100 HLG Cell Phone Video Looks Thermal Vision

Why does the MP4 video I recorded with my phone look like thermal vision from The Predator? I have worked with HLG cell phone video before, but not like this. It doesn't look like this when I play it back in VLC or Windows Media Player.

First, some users are getting some bizarre things with some Nvidia GPU drivers. So ... perhaps that's the cause here.

Or another idea ... are you working with a Rec.709 sequence? If so, you need to do basic color management to get the clips to Rec.709 first.

Select one or more in the project panel, right-click/Modify/Intepret Footage, select the Override-To control's Rec.709 option.

That's what I normally do, and so I thought it was weird how this looked the way it did. The HandBrake solution was the one that worked for me, though.

Many users are having issues with VFR. Use Handbrake to convert to constant frame rate:

Here is a tutorial:

Shutter Encoder may also be used to convert to Constant Frame Rate:

This was a good workaround. Thanks!
