Question

recover edit files from dead G-Raid

I'm editing a 1 hr program using as my main edit drive an 8 TB Thunderbolt G-Raid.  This morning it would not power up, nor of course mount.  Checked the power supply and it's fine.  Can I take the two drives from the g-Raid and put them in another enclosure to recover the video files?  I'm editing on location in Costa Rica so availble support is not so much so.  The video files are backed up on another drive, so in theory I could rebuild from them, but it would be great if I could just recover all the work rather than relink, etc..  Any other suggestions or ideas would be great.  The drives are stripped Raid 0.

thx...Jim

Not a great solution, but I have recovered Raid 0 files through a (expensive) drive recovery service. It's not always 100% and the files can come back with bizare names, but I got what I needed...

If it is the enclosure that failed, and not one of the drives, and if you have an identical enclosure with an identical chipset, set up identically for Raid 0, it may work.

Nope when a raid 0 fails it is end of story.

Fortunately it was only the enclosure so new one arriving in a couple of weeks from G-Tech (when you're off the grid everything takes time😊).  So we'll see how it goes with the new enclosure.
