Red Frames?

I just started in premiere pro, I mostly use After effects but I was wanting to speed up a recording I did to show my mother what goes into editing in after effects. so I recorded my screen, did some editing and I was done, but the video came out to be over an hour long and I'm wanting to speed the video up so that its only 1 minute, so I did and I started noticing red frames popping up even before I started editing the clip, I would just scrub through the time line and red frames would pop up. I thought it was just a rendering problem so I went ahead and sped up the clip and exported it. I went to look at the clip and Its just blinking red along with the original clip, Is anyone experiencing the same thing, or is there a fix for it? ever since then I cant export something without there being red frames in it. I've already uninstalled the app, but the problem persists. can anyone help?

Also everything I try and export now from both after effects and Premiere Pro takes almost 3 hours for a 1 minute clip. I've already uninstalled adobe and re-installed it but that hasn't worked. I just bought the all apps plan because I heard people raving about how well the software works. These are terrible first impressions and if the problem persists and I cant export videos without red frames in them, I will consider canceling my subscription because I cant get any usable work done.

I actually didn't really end up doing anything. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and that seemed to do it. No thanks to Adobe. But I cant really put that on them, they probably have a million other things they have to fix on a daily basis. In the end I have no idea why they were there or how I got rid of them.

I was experiencing red frames when trying to edit mp4 files pulled down from YouTube (used 4K Video Downloader). So I used Handbrake to re-encode them and the red frames were gone. So, if you are experiencing red frames, re-encode the video using something like the free Handbrake app (normally I use this for super optimizing hero videos for websites).

Hi SuburbanSorcerer,

Sorry for this. What did you end up doing? When faced with these kinds of issues, I transcode the source footage then add effects to it. You might try that.

Thanks,
Kevin

I worked around this by going:

Preferences -> Media -> disable "Enable accelerated H.264 decoding"

i've tried that already, and I believe you were the one who gave me the idea on Reddit, thank you by the way. I did try it and I have no idea if it worked because its taking over 4 hours to export a one minute video
