refer back to original video files, but with externally synced audio.
so i have a bunch of externally recorded audio files, and a bunch of video. i synced this using the multicam method, based on timecode. (one long multicam timeline, with all the footage)
I created the edit, with the multicam timeline as a source, and i feel okay-ish about this method.
the part which i do not like, is that when i match frame, it refers to the original clip, without the synced audio.
there are a few methods to get around this, which i am aware of;
-merge clips. but the downside for that is that i can't seem to merge clips in one batch. i really have to do this clip by clip, which is cumbersome and time consuming.
-Batch create multiple multicam timelines instead of one long timeline. But this is still far from ideal, as -depending on the footage- some multicam timelines will contain multiple video clips when the audio recording/clip is as long as multiple video clips. also, every clip gets placed on a different video track by default.
-insert the multicam clips (from the long multicam timeline) as nested clips, so that when i match frame, it will refer back to that timeline. But often i want to mute/solo some audio tracks, and if it is nested, i have to do this in the multicam timeline, and create cuts in the audio,.. well, also not ideal, and eventually at some point i need to flatten everything for when i do the grading/audio post processing/ xml roundtripping.
I an ideal world, i just want the clips in my bin to contain the synced audio. when i match frame, i want to hear the synced audio, and when i then decide to insert something on the timeline, i want to have the synced audio right there. For example, when i use davinci resolve, i can rightclick all the footage/audio, and say "auto sync audio -> based on timecode", and boom, job done.
What is a good workflow in premiere for that?
