Remove Sony Catalyst Prepare Plugin from Clips

I hope this will be my last post about this horrible Sony Plugin and the nightmare will end soon..

I need to delete the Sony Plugin effect from all of my clips, but cannot remove the effect in the effects panel.

Right-Click and selcting "clear" has no effect.

I copied all clips to a new project but the effect moves with them.

After I deleted the plugin, the effect is offline but still there.

How can I ever get rid of it?

Correct answer

The effect that you are seeing is the source settings generated by the importer plugin. You cannot delete it as long as that importer plugin is being used to read the files. You should uninstall the plugin and ignore the missing filter warnings. With the plugin gone, the settings are irrelevant and will not be an export problem.

I am afraid it DOES affect export. I wasnt able to export my timeline with the XDCAM plugin because it sends the timeline to AME in the background. I deleted the project, edited a new project and exported with exactly the same settings. No problems at all. So if you import with the activated plugin you WILL have problems later on.. even if you delete it.

Is the Catalyst Prepare Plugin causing a performance issue?

Since you don't need what the Catalyst Prepare Plugin enables on the Premiere Pro side, you could transcode your Sony camera original clips to ProRes and then use the transcodes in Premiere Pro.  You could use the Sony Catalyst Prepare application to batch-transcode the clips.  Shutter Encoder (donation-ware) should also work, I just have not tried it with Sony source.

Hi @32062116

I got your message. I think I understand your situation. Try Edit > Remove Attributes and enable the Sony plug-in. Does that work for you? Let us know. Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks,
Kevin

@Kevin-Monahan Right now I can work without the plugin, but on every startup I get the warning: Video Filter missing: Catalyst Prepare Plugin ********************************.

Could this cause trouble in the end on export, when the plugin is still applied to the clips but not available?

Hi @32062116,

It won't affect export, as far as I'm aware. Not sure how to remove the issue either. Perhaps copy/paste to a new sequence? Try it out and let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin
