Restoration Of Video When Accidentally Deleted

  • November 1, 2022

I accidentally pressed Command + W when my timeline was selected in premier pro, and this caused all my things on my timeline to disappear. I need help!

I've gone and tried to do the history method to restore them back, but it doesn't work.

Is there like a version history button in premier pro?

(I lost so much work!)

Yesterday i ran in this problem again. The best solution is the possibillity to select (parts of the) edits on the timeline and lock them or secure them so they can't be deleted. The solution of our guy VideoRevealed is just a part of the solution.

You just closed the timeline and now you need to find it and reopen it. Nothing is lost or deleted.

If you can´t find it, just type in the word sequence in the search field in the Project panel. This will filter out all your sequences and now when you find it, just double click on it to open it and continue to edit on your project.

The two images are examples of what you will see depending of the View choosed in the Project panel.

He didn't delete a sequence.. he deleted parts of the edit inside a sequence. Adobe should solve this problem. U must be able to secure parts of the edit on the timeline.

P.S in my library full of my content I need, the footage and audio I have used have a little blue box on them (I'm pretty sure that means that particular footage/audio is being used in the timeline.

Hi Elijah,

Sorry for the confusion. Your sequence is probably still there. It just needs to be reopened. In the Project panel, click the List View button. You should now be able to differentiate between your clips and your sequence. Double-click the sequence icon, and you should open the sequence again. Let me know if this advice helps.

Thanks,
Kevin

this is not even an answer to the question

Hi,

I read your response. I see. I may have misunderstood the user's issue. Most editors have mistakenly deleted portions of the timeline. Usually, a Ctrl or CMD + Z can restore. However, if it happened much earlier and the clips were deleted well past the History of undos, you can look to your latest project backup or Auto Save copy. I've had to do that in the past. Another trick is to duplicate the sequence to keep a version of where you are. Finally, what you did is a good idea, as well. Lock the track. Thanks for your input.

Cheers,
Kevin
