Question

RTX 2080 VS GTX 1080 Ti

Will the new RTX architecture help for real-time playback when using Premiere Pro? If not now will it be of some use in the not so distant future? I can see Real-time Ray-tracing being useful for After effects.

You are confusing, to play in real time not only passes by the graph that one has but also by the Intel capacity available on the motherboard.

And all the above is related to the codec that is being processed.

The real problem begins to arise with 4K files and higher, with a modest PC a 1920X1080, can not give problems.

The real question would be, which of these 2 graphic plates with their architecture will be able to process the effects in real time for a better reporduccion.

I think it all depends on what codec one uses.

I use 4K Canon intra frame and have realtime playback.

I wonder if AE will make use of real-time Ray-tracing when using the RTX 2080 Ti.

As long as you have 1GB or more of VRAM, you can use the Mercury Playback Engine acceleration and you can benefit from both Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Optimize a computer for Mercury Playback Engine acceleration in Premiere Pro

Greater performance gains with the Mercury playback engine in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5
