Second monitor hogs screen even when Premiere minimised

I have found a rather annoying bug.

When I am using Premiere I have my second monitor for viewing the video. But, when I go over to Photoshop and explorer to deal with a screenshot or anything else it will stay glued to the second monitor. If I hit the show desktop button it "SOMETIMES" goes away and I can do the multi tasking that is required when making complex videos. However, sometimes it will not do that and will act as expected; it will go away and reveal both my monitors. Then a third strange thing I have noticed is when the second monitor is freed up by Premiere it will sometimes gain focus randomly and I cannot get rid of it.

I am using 12.1.1 but have had this annoying bug for the last few years of using 2 monitors.

For the specs askers

Windows 7 & 10 64bit

32gig Ram

I7 9600k

Asus Geforce GTX 1080

All my drivers are up to date. I like to keep a tip top system.

The "Mercury engine" is their fancy in-house name for their color code.

Mercury Transmit control is in the Preferences/Playback dialog. This is to set one monitor to show the current clip full-monitor.

The shortcut command is "enable transmit" so just type "transmit" in the search box of the Keyboard shortcuts dialog, it will appear.

I get that from time to time also. I set Shift-C as a keyboard short to toggle Mercury Transmit on/off, and I just normally tap that one-handed when minimizing Pr.

A bit annoying but I have other issues I keep after them about higher on my "list".

Thanks Niel,

How do I set Mercury Transmit? I searched for it in key shortcuts but could not find it.

I would much rather have a keyboard shortcut than have no way to get rid of it when it randomly pops up.

Also what is Mercury Transmit?

Thanks

Ben

sound like maybe you could post this in the hardware forum also, but I think you'll need to give more specs to the specs askers.

Like, do you use a laptop or a desktop computer ( what kind ?? ). Apparently there may be heat issues with the laptop version ..and if GPU gets hot they sometimes act weird and inconsistent maybe. Or melt.

I wonder what kind of connection you're using to 2nd monitor ?  DVI, HDMI, DP ??

good luck !
