Sequences - Playing Outside the Defined Bounds when Placed (Picture in Picture)

Hello all,

Probably a silly question (and likely confusing as heck), but I'm at a loss and hope you could help.

On a current project, I am attempting to create sequences of stills and video footage, adding panning and zoom with an intent to bring them into my main video as a quarter screen picture-in-picture (like, a news broadcast with the little image/footage placeholder above the left or right shoulder of the anchorperson).

However, after the first few worked great, I now have an issue where all the new sequences I create are playing outside the their defined bounds. What I mean is, when I bring the sequence into the main video, the first few I made remain within the static bounds of the sequence size chosen (such as 16:9 or 3:2). The panning and zooming all working in a perfect Ken Burnsy style, like as I want.

However the last few I made are not working. Instead of staying in the 16:9, 3:2, 4:3, etc bounds... once they are placed in the main and played, they will float and dance around the entire screen, emulating the panning and zoom I created in the sequence, but without the edge boundaries that were supposed to be in place.

I very much hope this makes sense and sure I just have something unchecked.

Any help appreciated.

When I've done something like that, I've always used a mask and "showed" the pip through the mask, which naturally keeps it confined.

Then use scale and motion controls as neccessary to get the part of the image wanted.

Hi recasper,

I understand you have adjusted resolution for your sequence and when you playback, the preview is correct for few files but not for others.

  • Please share the screenshot of the following:
    1. Correct preview
    2. Incorrect preview
    3. Sequence Settings
  • What is the resolution of the original file?

Thanks,

Shivangi
