Sharing Custom Metadata Properties

Help with custom metadata please!

My goal is to share with my team the data I've entered in my custom metadata properties (all located within custom schemas), so that we can all see and edit the data in these custom properties, from different locations/computers.

  • With Premiere's built-in metadata properties, the data follows the .proj file or Teams share. If one of us changes the 'label' or add 'keywords', we can all see that data
  • However, my custom properties do not transfer with the .proj file or Teams share. It seems like the data is there, but people on other computers cannot access it, because they don't have the option to check those custom properties in the metadata display panel

Is this possible? Anyone have success?

My digging under the hood has revealed metadata references in two locations:

1. documents/adobe/premiere pro/profile/metadata preferences/

This contains several .xml files that seem to correspond to my custom schemas, for example, mytest.xmp_view_settings.xml

2. ~library/application support/adobe/XMP/custom file info panels/4.0/custom/

This contains another group of .xml files exactly matching the names of the custom schemas I've created, for example, mytest.xml

However, I've not found any xml files that are the actual names of custom properties I've created within my schemas.

All of this to say, if these xml files contain the properties, and we just copy them to the same folder structure on all of the machines that are being used for this project, will that do the trick? I've tried and it doesn't seem to be working, but perhaps I'm moving the wrong files to the wrong places.

Anyone have experience / advice?

My team and I are all running Premiere 15.4.0 (build 47) on Big Sur 11.2.3.

Thanks.

I'll chime in too with the same question. We're setting up a project right now and we're trying to figure out the same thing.

We want to add some custom bin columns, and have tried transferring the settings from the folders outlined but the custom columns do not show up on the other computer.

1. documents/adobe/premiere pro/profile/metadata preferences/

2. ~library/application support/adobe/XMP/custom file info panels/4.0/custom/

In Avid, custom columns just show up with the bin and you're able to save them. Is there any way to do this in Premiere?  Can Adobe provide an answer please?

Thanks

Further to my last posting, the custom metadata columns are now transferring to the 2nd workstation and it seems independant of the metadata preferences. The only thing we tried different was to assign the metadata to clips, rather than sequences, then suddently the columns were appearing.
