Slow performance multicam editing

Hi,
I have performance problems when cutting with a Multiclip.
The multiclip consists of 4 video tracks (2x GoPro 4K, 1xFX9 HD, 1x GH5 HD). Plus 5 audio tracks from an external recorder. The material is on an Avid Nexis 40TB, speed is not the problem.
The total length of the sequence is 70 minutes.

We have already worked with far more complex sequences (Apple M1 Max 64GB), always without problems.

Recently, copy and paste or cut and paste have become a pain with multclip footage. Wheel of death for 5 to 6 seconds for every process. And that even when I delete individual video tracks. Even with one video and one audio track the problem remained. So it doesn't really seem to be related to the material.

Any similar experiences or ideas? We are working on Premiere pro 23.5.

Thank you,
Claudio

Have you tried transcoding all of the source to a mezzanine format for editing with Sequence Video Previews set to the same format?
