Social Caption Styles Only Appear in Certain Project Types?

I've been using the new Adobe social-style captions in our Instagram Reels, and it seems pretty straightforward. However, I recently was working on a web project where the client decided late that they wanted some social cut-downs, and when I went to add the social-style captions (Bold Captions with White Background), there are no caption "styles" available. It would appear that these styles only appear when you start your project using the Social template. 

 

I know that I can start another project, assign the social template, then individually copy-and-paste each social cutdown into that new project, but does anyone know if there is a way to manually assign caption track styles to a standard project where you didn't start with the Social template?

@Stan Jones - Aha! I was trying to copy from the wrong spot. Your example above 100% works, and also allows me to copy these into my template going forward so that they're available on every project.

Right! Also, with just the social media template open, you can right-click on a style and use "Export text styles" to create a .prtextstyle file with one or more styles in it.

 

Or, once you have it in one of your projects, select a caption, use the style browser, set the track style, and it will add it as a local style you can access even if it is not in an open project.

I have not paid any attention to those templates!

 

Try this. Open your current project. Then, with it open, create a new project and pick the social media template. In the Project Panel for the new project, click on the style you want, and copy. The switch to your other project panel and paste. Now that style will be available as a local style for you to use.

 

Does that work?

Thank you both. @Stan Jones - The copy and paste didn't work exactly like this, but in a roundabout way, one can sort of get where they want to go.  I didn't want to copy the entire social project template, because it pre-loads a ton of presets that I don't want. However, I was able to copy a single sequence into the social template, use the captions, and in the Properties panel, clicked the + icon and "create track style". Then, back in my main project, you can import that style from your library. I appreciate your input, as this was inspired by your suggestion.

@Kevin-Monahan - Thank you for your input. It sounds like Adobe is working on a smoother solution to this. I'd also love to see the social safe-zone overlays more easily available outside the social template. I'm part of an enterprise marketing team, which makes it difficult to use the Beta versions (I want all my editors and motion graphic folks on the same stable build), but might play around with it on my personal laptop to see how some of these functions behave.

Done this way, the ONLY thing copied to your project is the style. This is a screenshot of the social media template project panel. It is the 2 styles in the Caption Styles bin. You can copy one or both, then switch to the other project's panel, and paste.

Hey David,

I read about your issue, and it appears you're hitting the limitations of the social style captions. I think you're using the main workaround. I advise you to check out the Beta where you might find the tools you need to develop a better workflow. Can you check it out? Let me know. Sorry for the hassle.
