Spacebar does not work in Premiere Pro 2023

Spacebar not working in Premiere Pro 2023. Used to be able to stop/start playback while working in the timeline by just tapping the spacebar. Have to use shift+space now to start playback. Using shift+space again now sends the playhead back to beginning of clip instead of just stopping at the previous playhead position. Spacebar also not working when entering lines of text. Have to use shift+space here also to get a space between words. Tried resetting preferences with no results. Uninstalled and reinstalled the application with no results. I have not created any custom preferences or custom keyboard settings. Never had this problem problem in any previous version of Premiere. I'm using a MacBook Pro running Ventura OS.

UPDATE TO MY POST ABOVE:  I was able to restore the space bar to its' basic function of spacing by unchecking "Full Access" in the Keyboard section of Mac Preferences.  Fixed the problem in PP.  Also unfroze scrolling keys.  I actually finally understood the issue (at least for me) after seeking some insight among Ventura issues that were being addressed.  Go figure...

Nov 12 Today...
This is still broken... for Windows...(for not letting me say curses)
Every time i try to pause it dosnt do it, it just keep playing the video.
Shift+ Space starts the video from beginning and that works...but the regular spacebar 90% of the time dosnt work right

I'm having the same problem with spacing between words.  Just installed Premiere Pro 2023 today.  Only good news here is your patch, using shift+space allows me to type functional text, so thank you, Tom, for that.  I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, no joy.  Nothing in Essential Graphics that is supposed to increase space between words has any effect.

What are the complete steps? I am in Mojave and cant see any option like that one.

Thanks

If you type full keyboard acces into the search top right and then open  - uncheck "full Keyboard access" it will solve it.  You can also find it under "System Preferences/Accessibility/keyboard".

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.
