Currently, there are no additional controls within the Enhance Speech feature in Premiere Pro to refine what it detects as speech. The best workaround is to keyframe the volume to mute any unintended enhancements.
For more advanced results, consider using Adobe’s free online tool: Adobe Podcast Enhance. It often produces cleaner and more natural-sounding voice enhancements, especially for challenging audio.

Thanks for the suggestion – however, my issue isn’t about what is detected as speech or not. In my case, Adobe Podcast Enhance actually generated new speech fragments that weren’t present in the original audio.
Instead of extracting or improving existing vocals from background music in a recording, it seemingly added new speech takes that had nothing to do with the original content. To me, that clearly goes beyond classic speech enhancement – that’s generation.
That kind of behavior can easily lead to legal issues.
