Hey!

So I will reinstall my complete PC, to clean it up and get away of my old, trashy File-System, but now I ask myself, what I should put where.

1. Does Premiere profit from an SSD?

2. Do the files in the timeline (I use proxy's) profit from SSD?

And do you have some nice tips for filesystems etc. for Premiere Pro and good to have programs?

Thanks!

Hallo!

Ich werde bald meinen Computer komplett neu installieren. Möchte mein altes File-System loswerden. Jetzt frage ich mich, was von einer SSD profitiert.

1. Profitiert Premiere und After Effects von einer SSD?

2. Profitieren die Dateien in der Timeline von Pr und AE, wenn sie auf einer SSD sind?

Und habt ihr noch paar Tipps was ich installieren könnte und für mein File System?

Danke!

Your OS and apps will definitely benefit from an SSD. I store my files on other drives due to cost and size.

My OS/app SSD is 512GB; I have three internal 4TB hybrid drives (small SSD with disk-based drives).

So I will install Premiere on the SSD then
Do you also know, if the files on the timeline benefit from the SSD too?

Thank you so much!

It would to some extent, but it would be better to have a good video card at that point. Once the preview cache is created, it won't make an extreme difference. However, you could get a 1 or 2 TB SSD for the main drive, work on it for the current project, and then off load it to a disk-based drive for storage.

You would need to (re)install the entire OS on the SSD, then the programs--the SSD would be your C drive. By the way, if this is a laptop, it will feel like a new computer with an SSD installed. I did not on my older laptops and was very happy.
