Stabilize an object (the head) in one position

Hello!

We have this video (see the screenshots).

The problem with the video is that the speaker was constantly changing his position. As a consequence, the head sometimes moves to the right, sometimes to the left, sometimes a little bit up or down.

We need to find a way to automatically process the videos and keep the head always in the same place.

That would create black floating areas on the borders, but it's ok.

Since the movements of the head are very smooth, the general video stabilization algorithm (Warp Stabilizer) doesn't really help.

Any suggestion would be really appreciated!

this looks like more of a job for a compositing app like After Effects. stop by the forum and bring the shot with you, we need to see it After Effects

Interview subject movement is really something that needs to be controlled while shooting.

This can be fixed by using a cameraman

Depending on the motion, the Warp Stabilizer effect may help. You add it to a clip with a talking head and choose No Motion per the screenshot below... however, Warp Stabilizer can get involved when trying to get it working with various types of source footage scenarios... however, I tried No Motion one day and found it was fairly good at holding an object in position. It does this through cropping/scaling, and other things. You can read about it at the link below. After Effects has a warp stabilizer effect as well... and may have better options depending.

I've gotten some excellent AE input from Roei in the past so I wouldn't pass up the invite posted above.

Selecting the No Motion option so WS works to avoid motion via cropping, scaling etc...
