Question

Strange playback problem.

Hello!

I am having a weird problem with Premiere (it happened to me not only in the latest version -13.1.5- but in the previous one too)

I have a 24fps project, the footage is 24fps and everything is set up to work at 24fps (intermediate media timebase 24fps). However when I play back the footage it looks fine but it jumps every second like it is the wrong frame rate. The footage is ok, I checked in DaVinci and Avid, I go frame by frame in Premiere and there are no missing or repeated frames, all looks perfect, it just won´t play smoothly. It does not matter if the footage is video or a frame sequences, it is always the same jumpy playback. The final renders look great but when I import it again into Premiere I get the same playback issue. I just can´t seem to be able to play any footage properly even though everything else works.

I am on latest Windows, latest Adobe version, Quadro P5000, 64 Gbs RAM and the storage configuration does not affect: I am getting the footage from fiber optics connection, internal hard drives, SSD and M2. All plays back jumpy.

The sequence is 2048 X 858 24fps progressive. I am not rendering video previews. I am not aplying any video or audio effect.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Your Dual Xeon is not very powerfull. (Premiere is not like Avid or Resolve, they all work different under the hood)

But if Preview works you can also 'smart render' to Cineform.

    Forgot to mention your prosessor.

Most stuff is done on the cpu.

Try and turn off max depth, max render and composite in linear color.

    Have you considered Proxies

Processor is Dual Xeon E5-2650v3 @ 2.30ghz. Turning off those options I already tried but no results. However i just found something, If I don´t use the Quadro and go software playback with nop CUDA of course I can´t play anything real time but the rendered previews work as it should. So maybe there is something wrong with Premiere and this card? The Quadro works smoohtly with everything else.

Internal drive as in spinning drive: these day that is a no no.

    Post screenshot sequence settings and

Mediainfo screenshot in treeview of media used.

Well, maybe is a no no these days, I understand, but I edit on Avid the very same footage in the very same machine and it works perfectly. Also the internals in my machine are not only mechanical, i have ssd and 2 M2 with same results.
