Question

Stuttering video playback, even though my computer should handle real time 4K

Hi!

Since a few months back all video in premiere cc 2019 has been playing back with a slight stutter. The stuttering playback is the same with 4K, Hd and SD video. No noticeable difference. I am using an audio interface, which I read in this forum might cause stuttering, and tried three different ones, but nothing changes.

I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere, the audio drivers and video drivers, tried to install older versions of Premiere cc, and tried both MME and ASIO as audio driver, but the stuttering persists in the same way as before. I'm at a loss.

Does anybody have the same issue? Also as a note, this computer was newly built and was freshly installed with the latest version of Windows 10 only two months ago.

Hardware:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

Video card: Nvidia GTX 1070

RAM: 2x DDR4 Corsair 16gb

Audio interface: Steinberg UR22

Thanks!

Hi auduneftevag,

Let us know if isolating the external audio interface and using the system default I/O helps in solving the issue.

Thanks,

Sumeet

Hi again,

Thanks for the reply Jim_Simon and Sumeet. I have now tried as you advised. I swithed the audio hardware I/O settings to the default motherboard Realtek audio driver (MME). I hoped this would help, but everything is the same. The video playback in both source and program monitor is stuttering slightly.

I don't know if this is helpful information, but the audio has never been stuttering, only video.

Thanks again,

Audun Eftevag

Have you physically removed the USB audio and fully uninstalled it's drivers?

What audio device?

I'm currently using a Steinberg UR22 USB audio interface

OK.

I advise against any sort of USB audio.  Use the motherboard audio, or an installed sound card.  Use only standard analog/digital audio connections for input and output.
