Suddenly my video displays when exporting are tiny

I'm using the identical settings for the very same things I've produced all week.  But the last 2 video's have been turning out tiny for some reason..When I add in the video clip - which is the same media as previous they are acting different and when I go to export, the upper screen start shrinking the the final finished export video isn't full screen.  Ideas?

    Yes, good call. 🙂 You got sideways by the 'new' import screen. There has been a rage on here about it being less productive by somewhat experienced editors, and here' you've confirmed it's not greatest for new users too...

     

    Anyway, yes it sounds right. Ideally you should edit in the same format you are delievering. For whatever reasons you want 720p, or is it, you just had spotted that 'YouTube' setting?

     

    That import method creates a mostly unhelpful timeline. You can just close it and drop a video clip onto the empty timeline window, it will create a sequence with the settings of that clip.

     

    Exporting to 720p wil make things kinda small. Most monitors these days have 1080p resolution, so a 1080p export would fill that screen, 720 would need to be enlarged, and thus loose quality when a view needs to do that.

     

    I'm for dragging and dropping if you're using plain ol' video clips.

    I was doing 720YouTube because it was my understanding that what I was suppose to render for YouTube so it was deliberate.  I'd like to go back to the drag and drop to the bin the lower left corner but I can't figure out how to get rid of "effects" and other things in that corner other than media bin.  Any suggestions?  I'd like to have a do-over so I can edit what I have and see if my video turns out right like the others.

    Yes, click in the timeline window to get sequence settings un-greyed.

    First on the output. Did you want 720p? Most use 1920x1080, which is full HD.

     

    Second, where's your footage coming from? That also is likely to be full HD. If you dropped a graphic or picture into an empty timeline window, it will create a sequence the size of that graphic, so, drop an HD element in first, even if you have to simply delete it in the sequence. 

     

    Otherwise, let us know what kind of media you are using, and what is your target export / output.

    I'm going to post these to YouTube and it was the YouTube720 setting I was tasking after so that's why its that one rather than the higher numbers.  The video is from the same source as all the others I've been using.  Its actually an animated graphic video.  Here's where I think my problem is.  For these two video, my usual process for obtaining my media changed and I didn't know why or how.  I had been dragging my source file into a space in the lower left, I think it was a bin.  But it disappeared and I didn't know how to get it back.  So, I watched a video that showed me how to import my media on the right side of my screen so I did it that way and when I did, it all "piled up" in the timeline and I had to sort through it and place it in the right order.  That's when I noticed for the first time the video wasn't sizing the way it had been previously so I think the import process changed something as opposed to when I simply was able to drag and drop my media.  I don't know if what I'm saying makes sense because I'm still learning and don't know terms very well.

    I'm learning so I don't know how to get to the sequence settings.  When I pulled down that menu the settings was greyed out.  I'm attaching 3 shots of all  the export settings - you'll notice that the image in the upper right is tiny
