Hey there,
I'm trying to do something rather simple, but couldn't find any way of how to do it while messing around in PremierePro, plus there don't seem to be any tutorials online to explain how to either.
I want to select multiple videos in the Project window and then add a specific keyword to all of them at the same time (i.e. not clicking on each of them and then adding the tag line by line).
In DaVinci Resolve this works without any problems. On the "Media" page you select your clips, then in the "Inspector" panel you click into the "Keywords" box and add your keywords/tags. These are now assigned to every clip in the selection.
Inside PremierePro this doesn't work. If you select multiple clips, there is no way to add keywords to all of them at once, since - once you click into the "Tags" column (which I created as a custom text property) - you deselect all the other clips.
Any idea of how to achieve this would be much appreciated 🙂
Hey @R Neil Haugen, Hi @Philipp27039834jf6q,
I was able to do so in the Metadata panel in Log Notes. I selected the clips. I entered my favorite Log Note: "NFG." The entry appeared next to all three clips at the same time.
Hope that helps. If it doesn't, let us know.
Thanks,
Kevin

Have you tried the Metadata workspace? That is probably the most overlooked and forgotten "tool" in Premiere. There's things you can do there you can't in the Project panel.

Hi Neil,
Yes, I did try the Metadata panel, thanks for suggesting. However the problem persists there as well. I can only make changes when I've selected one file, not multiple files like I need to.
Also the custom property that I've created for that (the "Tags" column), is nowhere to be found in the Metadata panel.

Well, that's a problem! I've been able to select multiple files, and apply across them before. I need to test this out on my system now!

I'll make a few minutes to test this in a bit. That would be an incredible loss if confirmed.

Just did some testing in the Metalogging workspace.
Selected several files, then made comments in several different fields. And worked fine.
Even went to the "Dublin Core" category, Keywords, and typed in words. All took for all clips selected.
So I can't replicate here. And wonder what's off in perhaps your system ... @Kevin-Monahan any ideas?
So ...

OK, so you are absolutely right, thanks a lot for your help. I selected a specific property (like "Comment") in the "Metadata" panel and I can indeed add or change tags for a selection of clips. All great!
But I was wondering, why I couldn't find any custom properties that I created in the Metadata Display window inside the Metadata panel. I created a custom text property named "Tags" (following a couple of YouTube tutorials online), but this is nowhere to be found in the Metadata panel.
Are these custom properties kind of "locked out" from the default properties the Metadata panel displays or is there some option I'm missing to make those custom properties show up? Thanks for letting me know.

Thanks a lot for checking Neil. Will test on our end, once my colleague is back on the computer.
